Clinical studies of the effects of 3 30-minute treatments showed 90% of patients showed a visible reduction in acne inside of 6 months. 87% percent of patients showed at least 50% clearance of acne in 6 months. After 12 months, 92% of patients described continuing improvement of their acne. This might be the most effective treatment for acne on the market today.
As mentioned above, AviClear uses a 1726 nm laser to selectively target and suppress the sebaceous glands of the skin. The sebaceous gland is mildly damaged by the laser while the rest of the skin is left unaffected. This mild damage to the gland reduces the amount of sebum it is able to generate, preventing acne at the source. When sebum mixes dead skin cells and gets trapped before leaving the skin it results in acne. Overproduction of sebum causes this trapping to happen more frequently and with greater severity. Using the AviClear to bring the sebum production down to normal levels reduces the amount of acne and its severity.
AviClear is effective against all types of acne and safe for all skin types and ages. Unlike many topical treatments and oral treatments, the AviClear laser’s effectiveness is not dependent on other biological factors. Virtually anyone suffering from any type of acne is a good candidate for AviClear treatments.
AviClear is an extremely safe treatment with very minimal side effects. Patients can expect very slight short-term redness following each procedure. This is a natural healing process in response to the mild damage caused to the sebaceous gland. This mild redness and swelling is often so minimal that some patients even describe their skin as “glowing” following the procedure. The other common side effect, which can occur approximately 1 or 2 weeks after the procedure, is a short-term acne flareup as the sebaceous glands purge their contents following the mild gland damage. This is a natural reaction by the glands to the mild damage. These breakouts should not last longer than a week, and reduce in severity with each of subsequent treatments. Because AviClear is a laser treatment rather than a chemical one, it is inherently a very safe treatment with no chemical interactions to worry about.
There is no downtime! the procedure requires no anesthesia. The minimal redness will not interfere with daily life. We always recommend applying sunscreen to the treatment area following the procedure so that the skin can focus on healing the sebaceous glands quickly and effectively without being distracted by having to also heal a sun burn.
Local anesthetics are not needed for this procedure. The sensation is described by patients as similar to a rubber band snapping. This sensation is caused by the short pulses from the laser exciting the tissue of the sebaceous gland very quickly. AviClear then uses the avicool system to cool the area down quickly, minimizing any pain.
Each of the the 3 AviClear treatment sessions over 3 months costs $1000. At a similar cost to a typical 6-month accutane treatment course, AviClear produces greater results in less time without chemicals or major side-effects.
